What is Somatic Movement? Try this quick and easy practice!

Somatic Movement is a kind of Movement Therapy practice that helps a person improve their body awareness, reduce pain and anxiety, improve breathing and mobility, develop a deeper sense of wholeness and connection to themselves and an overall sense of wellbeing

Here is my first humble attempt at a short Somatic Movement video 🙂 I am happy to share with you one of my own daily home practice sequences. I have condensed it down to a summary of movements you can use in your yoga practice or other home practices. The focus of this video is on mobilizing the spine and shoulders, freeing the neck and low back. I like to do this sequence in the morning when I am feeling tight and creaky. It always leaving me feeling balanced and refreshed and ready to start my day. Remember this is a sequence I designed for my body type and mobility level. One size does not fit all when it comes to movement so modify any movements that don’t feel easy and pleasant. No Gain From Strain.

I hope you will enjoy and find some kind of inspiration for developing your own Somatic Movement Home Practice. Feel free to contact me if you would like to work online together to create a sequence customized to your own body-type and mobility level 🙂
